Last Friday, 7th of June, Vieira de Almeida (VdA) and WhatNext.Law hosted the event “Powering Net-Zero Energy Solutions: A Journey of Innovation”.
This event brought together experts from various fields to discuss challenges and innovative strategies for achieving net-zero energy goals. By balancing energy consumption with renewable energy production, net-zero energy systems play a crucial role in reducing environmental impact and promoting energy efficiency.
The keynote address was given by António Vicente, Team Leader and Deputy Head of Representation, European Commission about European Policies in Powering net-zero energy solutions context. The first panel, consisted of a round table, dedicated to “Innovation for Net-Zero Energy Solutions”. Nelson Lage, ADENE, António Coutinho, EDP Inovação, Catarina Freitas, Câmara Municipal de Lisboa, German Mendez, Siemens Energy and Pedro Fontes, AdP Valor, offered valuable insights into creating environments that promote innovative solutions. The moderator was Tiago Bessa, and Vanda Cascão, Partners at VdA.
The second roundtable, titled “The Future: From Net-Zero to Climate Positive”, was dedicated to the progression from achieving net-zero emissions, exploring strategies, innovations, and policies needed to move beyond net-zero emissions and actively contribute to reversing climate change. It was attended by Carla Sampaio, Greenvolt João Rosa Santos, Rega Energy, Nelson Luis, Akuo Renováveis Portugal, Pedro Pereira, Metropolitano de Lisboa and moderated by Ana Luís de Sousa and Maria Gorjão Henriques, VdA.
Lastly, João Fonseca Santos, European Investment Bank (EBI) representative, gave insights in regard the Role of the EBI on powering net-zero solutions and the closing remarks were given by Maria João Pereira, State Secretary of Energy in Portugal.
The event “Powering Net-Zero Energy Solutions: A Journey of Innovation” provided a unique opportunity to explore and discuss innovation and energy transition solutions, contributing to a greater understanding of innovative solutions and ways of thinking in the energy sector, and bringing together a series of insightful discussions from leading figures in the energy, administrative, and innovation sectors.
